Spreading the word about ending homelessness

Valley of the Sun United Way is a major players in the effort to end chronic homelessness in the Phoenix metro area. Leger Strategies was contracted to help increase awareness of the philanthropic agency's work.

The messaging campaign included:

  • meeting with The Arizona Republic editorial board;

  • placing an in-depth essay as a Viewpoints cover in the Republic, followed by a My Turn column;

  • working with reporters to ensure United Way's position appeared in in-depth stories in print and TV

  • publicizing a special Project Connect for people on a pathway to an apartment of their own;

  • arranging appearances on KAET's Horizon and KJZZ's Here and Now.

United Way's Amy Schwabenlender and Maricopa County's Bruce Liggett visit with Horizon host Ted Simons.

Fox 10 was among four outlets reporting on a Project Connect event at the Human Services Campus. Other reports appeared in the Arizona Capitol Times, La Voz and on KTAR Radio.

12 News' Joe Dana reports on the success of the housing first model in moving people off the streets and into homes.
